50th Wedding Anniversary Cake

This cake was for my brother-in-law Jake's grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. I was flattered that they asked me to do it. I made the flowers out of sugarpaste. It is baby blue because that was their color when they got married. I love the cake topper my sister got for them as her gift.

Craft Day

Back view of Suzanne's Birthday Cake.
Like how I covered up the mistake in the fondant with flowers?
I am mostly happy for how it turned out. I need to figure out a better cake recipe for carving so it holds up better. I learned a lot that I will change for the next cake of this style.

The kids are painting these shirts with spray bottles. It was a pretty clever kit my Aunt Carolyn gave to Jes for Christmas.

Sarah is a friend that lives far away so they don't get to see her everyday. They love it when she comes to play. She is so smart and imaginative. She always brings them little papers that she wrote them when she comes over. We sure love how sweet and kind she is.

Lance didn't want me to take his picture.

Fort Building

The kids made a fort in the family room during their short little vacation from school. They played in it for days and they slept in it one night.

Dallas Birthday Cake

Dallas asked me to make him a cake.

I used a candy clay recipe I found on-line. I am really excited about it. It works just like the Sculpey Clay, but it is edible. It actually tastes good too, unlike sugarpaste. It also smoothes
out better than the sugarpaste or fondant.

Slave Labor

We painted Lance's room. The Saltwater Tank is too heavy to move. Lucas had to be lifted in and out behind the tank. He taped and painted with a brush and roller where we couldn't reach. He did a really good job. You can look behind there and not know an 8 year old did it. He also had a great time doing it.

District Reflections

They gave all of the kids an Award of Merit.

Lucas got and Award of Excellence in the 3d category for the District Level. They gave 3 of those for every category. The Awards of Excellence go on and compete in the State Reflections Level.

Book Battle

Lance placed First, Brady Second and Star Third.

Jessica answered a few questions. She was really nervous, but I think it was good for her to be up in front of people and be fine.

Abby is one of Jessica's friends. They play really great together as well.

This is Jessica next to her best friend Ryan. He is so cute and sweet. I am glad her best friend is a boy. No drama. They have so much fun together. Jessica laughs and smiles so much when she is with him.

Lucas answered quite a few questions. He had a lot of fun. I am proud of all of my kids. Just reading the books, making it into the book battle and getting up there is a big accomplishment.

Lance has placed the last couple of years, this year he won it. Of course I forgot my camera for his battle. If I get the pics from Krista I will post them. The battle was very aggressive and funny to watch. Brady took Second Place.

Jessica's New Glasses

Jessica got new glasses. She looks adorable. I was worried about kids teasing her, nobody did. All of her friends told her they liked them. She really just needs them for school and when she wants to wear them. Her best friend Ryan made her a really cute bag to put her case in.

New Years Eve

Cousins came over for New Years Eve. Kerry and I went to Suzanne and Rory's Party. Everyone had too much fun.

Kicking Back

Lucas likes to watch all the cake and baking shows with me. We started by watching them, now all the kids take turns helping me make dinner. It has been fun teaching them and learning myself. I thought he looked to cute with his little feet up. I couldn't resist taking a picture.
