Suzanne's Birthday Party

This weekend we went to the Styx Concert in Wendover for Suzanne's Birthday. Styx is her all time favorite band. It was a blast. We all really had a fun time. They put on a good show. I really liked the drummer. He had a lot of energy. They really played to the audience. I have been to some shows where you feel like they couldn't give a crap about the fans, they gave a crap. That is probably why they are still doing shows for as long as they have.

Arts in The Park Program

Carson and Lucas getting ready in their classroom before the play.
Lucas really enjoys singing and had a lot of fun at this class program.

He was a lion. Oh My!!

Science Fair Project

Yes Jessica is holding a mealworm. Gross!!! They are the ugliest worms ever. We feed them to our lizards. Lance did a science fair project figuring out how far they travel in 2 minutes on different surfaces. They absolutely love that it is so revolting to me to have them on my floor. One word SANITIZE!!!

Mexico Cruise

Trent and Tracy

Some added pictures I got from Tracy.

Kerry's self-portrait.

Horseback riding in Encenada, Mexico.

The owner of this ranch was cool. Her name was Rita. She was from Virginia. She has been in business running this outfit for 17 years. The area and the views were beautiful. It was hard to take pictures riding on a horse though.

We had our picture taken on formal night.

We had to do a safety drill before we were legally allowed to depart.
We had tons of fun with Trent and Tracy.

San Diego

Encenada
It is always good to get away and catch up with good friends.

Mom Gets a Phone Call From The Principal

This is going to sound braggy and I am not trying to, when I print my blog and years from now and I read it. I know I will get a kick out of this. I got a phone call that brought me to happy tears. All of the First Grade Teachers were asked to nominate a child from their class who they thought deserved a call home from the Principal. Mrs. Larsen nominated Lucas. Reasons Mrs Larsen gave: Always Cheerful, Always on task, He works out problems peacefully with other students. Every paper he does is done with excellence and pride. Mrs Young said she agreed and that he was a wonderful student. She said when he is table captain in the lunchroom he does a great job. Mrs. Young also said that all of my children were an asset to our school and that they had wonderful manners and attitudes. She said she thought they were all terrific. I know my kids aren't perfect, but I think they are pretty great. I love them and I am very proud of them.

Hot Math

Today I got a part-time job as a math tutor for Tooele School District for West Elementary School. Thanks to Tracy's reference. I am very excited, but I haven't worked in an official capacity for someone else since I got pregnant with Jessica. Oh my gosh that is 8.5 years, Yikes!!! It will be perfect for me, because I am used to working as a volunteer at Stansbury Park Elementary. It is during hours that my kids are in school. I can still volunteer the same hours I already do and go to step aerobics. I am very excited.

What A Smile!!!

Lucas lost another tooth. At the beginning of December the dentist said it was only hanging on by a root and he would lose it by Christmas. That tooth was sure stubborn. Lucas came and showed us his tooth and it was really loose. Kerry started to pull it out and Lucas complained that it hurt, so Kerry wouldn't pull it out. Well big brothers don't care if they hurt you a little, so Lucas got Lance to pull it out.

Grandpa and Grandma Llewelyn

My grandparents were married forever. They were hard working good people. The kind of people that the world needs more of. My grandma was proud that her family was large. She was 6'2" and she loved being tall. I don't know how tall my grandfather was, but he wasn't tall. My whole life I only knew him with half of his right arm. That never stopped him from doing everything. He teased us, he was so fun to be around. My grandmother made jewelry with us and we helped her with her garden. She was the best cook in the world. They had a little trailer in Tabiona up on the mountain. We went there for so many family vacations. It was so great to be with our extended family. We slept out on the redwood deck, made homemade ice cream and hiked everywhere.
The most special thing about my grandparents was their love. My grandmother at the end of her life had to be placed in a rest home. She had Dementia she forgot everything and everyone. It was really hard to see such a strong woman in that position. My grandpa visited her everyday and tucked her in at night. She was in the rest home about 5 years I think. My grandfather became ill and he passed away. About one week later my grandma passed away. I believe she was ready to go, but she waited 5 years for him. I believe also that he came and got her when it was time. I am thankful for everything they were to me. What a great example of what we all deserve, to be loved.
